Lost after "syntax"

I found out through trial&error that

wikiation_check_isolation

should be

check_isolation

But after that, I don't get what I should do with

[--detail|-d] [excluded_dir]

Is it me, or can the explanation be written a bit more fool-proof? :)

Sorry Marjon, This documentation is in development as also the software. This make it hard to work with. Marjon but this is a syntax which is used to describes how programs are called and which parameters to use. It should be in (Dutch language) http://nl.wikibooks.org/wiki/Linux_Systeembeheer but unfortunatly "syntax" is not yet there. It should be one of the first pages of a Linux book. Does somebody else knows a link to, English prefered, the Linux syntax? --Bernard 22:15, 6 January 2009 (CET)
