Donations, putting your money where your mouth is

From MediaWiki extension testing
Jump to: navigation, search

Contrary to what many people think, using Open Source software is not free. When you get software that is Open Source, you get the functionality that is available for free. For everything else, someone somewhere has to do the work to make "everything else" available to you. You cannot rely on it that they will, you cannot rely on when they will.

The Wikiation Extension Testing Environment is developed with one purpose in mind. This is to ensure that Wikiation is able to develop the best extensions for its paying customers and, to make sure that Wikiation can technically support the extensions that its paying customers request to have installed.

Stichting Open Progress aims to promote Open Source and Open Content, and it is of the opinion that a proper testing framework for MediaWiki will enhance the experience of people and organisations who have a MediaWiki installation.

Wikiation and Open Progress put their money where their mouth is.

This testing framework is Open Source. It means that it is available to everyone. When you start using it, you will find that it may be rough around the edges. You can help by working with us to enhance the environment. When you want to ensure that your system has the best and latest version of the software, Wikiation intents to provide this information as a service. We will provide this when it is ready.

When you find that tests or functionality is missing, you can influence the timeliness by sponsoring this project as a developer or by donating money.
